Thatcher’s first portrait
About a month ago, my darling husband suggested to me that we have a reveal party to find out the sex of our baby. At this stage we were still a few weeks away from having our 20 week anatomy scan, and to be honest I had just assumed that we would have the scan, find out whether we were having a boy or a girl and that would be that. But no! Rod, who loves any excuse for a party, had much bigger ideas.
Basically, the idea is that at the ultrasound, the sonographer finds out what the baby is and seals the answer in an envelope. We then take the envelope (without looking at it – much more difficult than it sounds) to a cake maker who makes a cake that is gender neutral on the outside, but once cut would reveal the sex of our baby. We would then throw a party with all of our nearest and dearest to cut the cake.
Well, we had the reveal party on Saturday and are thrilled to announce that we are having a little boy! The party went off without a hitch and we all had an amazing time. I just have to say a huge thank you to Sherbet Bakeshop in Maylands for making the Red Velvet reveal cake – it was perfect and to Cakes by Rhian, for making the gorgeous little baby face cupcakes.
